Nimrod Fortress — Qal'at Nimrod — is located on a mountain northeast of the kibbutz where I live, formerly controlled by the Syrians, from which shells were fired at the kibbutz during my childhood. This painting is part of a series called Pink Moon, which I'm painting in the interval between the war that was and the one yet to come. 'Pink Moon' refers to a springtime bloom, but it also echoes the biblical blood moon that heralds the end of days. This series is a diary of apocalyptic-threshold existence on the northern border, Kibbutz Dafna, where I live.
