In Helbitz Cohen's work, deformity is a
virtuoso exaggeration of the human body, revealing its potential vulnerability alongside its
latent aggression. Rather than bloody, the severing of limbs furnishes the headless body
or the bodiless heart with a compelling presence. It is the grotesque that blurs, blends,
and connects what has been displaced, until the internal becomes external, "the central
becomes peripheral, the small and delicate — large and monstrous, devoid of harmonious
proportion." Yael Guilat
